What's
NISHIOGI

DSC_0750.JPG

These birds seem to be satisfied with the wintering life in NISHIOGI.

Winter birds called tufted ducks, now living in a group on the pond in Zenpukuji Park.

The birds are each 40 cm (about 16 inches) in the total length, and their flanks and bellies look white. It is said that they are good at diving deep to eat food such as small fish and shellfish.

As spring has come, they will soon fly away in the direction of Siberia.
