Guatemala’s traditional picbil weaves which have been made in its remote mountain area for over1500 years. The material is cotton and its thread is fine.
They have various motifs such as crabs, cobwebs and bacaya leaves. One of them reminds us of even doguu or ancient clay figures in Japan.
The exhibitor comments,” those weaves feel soft and warm.”
グアテマラの伝統織
中米グアテマラの深い山奥で織られる1500 年もの歴史を持つ伝統のピクビル織（ガーゼ織）。素材は綿。糸が細かく繊細。
カニ、クモの巣、バカヤの葉など様々なモチーフがあるが、なかには、日本の縄文時代の土偶を想起させるものあり。
