The 53rd NISHIOGI antique festival was held on October 11, 2025 in the Iogi hall with 20 exhibitors.
Take this Shigaraki ware from the Muromachi period (1338-1573), called “Saya” or sheath, for example. According to the exhibitor, the kiln owner had placed it not for sale but to check the condition of the climbing kiln. The flames and ash had piled up on it, and it melted and naturally turned into the glassy cylindrical shape.
On the other hand, the crane “painted plates” are said to be Meiji-period Seto-wares that have been reimported to Japan.
西荻秋の骨董好きまつり2025
素朴で風合いのある商品も数多く展示されていました。
第53回「西荻骨董好きまつり」が、10月11日、20店の出店者を得て井荻會舘で開催されました。
例えば、この「鞘（さや）」と称する、室町時代の信楽焼。出店者によれば、窯主が、売り物ではなく登り窯の具合を見るために置いた器で、炎と灰が積み重なってかかり、それが溶けて自然にこのようなガラス質の、珍しい円柱の形になったものだそうです。
一方、この、鶴の「絵付け皿」は、明治期の瀬戸焼の里帰り品とのことです。
