A piece of pottery found at a Japanese food restaurant near the NISHIOGIKUBO station.
It was baked in the “Shuzan-kiln” in Toki city, Gifu Prefecture for a flower bowl; the kiln is managed by a woman ceramist.
The bowl is classified as one of the “Minoyaki” ware groups which are said to have completed the style of tea utensils in the Momoyama period (in the late 16th century).
The products of this kiln are characterized by great warmth of the texture of soil. This bowl arouses a handmade feeling toward, for example, the distorted rim, making good use of high-quality soil in this area.
Her message on the board says that she is thankful for her family’s love and being able to work.
美濃焼
西荻窪駅北口の近くにある和食店内に飾られている陶器。
岐阜県土岐市の「朱山（しゅざん）窯」で女流陶芸家により焼かれた甕（かめ）。用途は花入れと思われる。桃山時代（16世紀後期）に茶陶を完成させた、いわゆる「美濃焼」の範疇に属する。
当窯の特徴は、土の風合いあふれる温かみのある陶器にあるとされる。この甕も口縁の歪みをはじめ自然の土の味を生かした手造り感覚をほうふつさせる。
作者のメッセージには家族愛と仕事ができる喜びが吐露されている。
