RAKUGO

Wishing for good luck, a New Year’s Rakugo performance was given in NISHIOGIKUBO. Rakugo is traditional Japanese comic storytelling.

This time around, the story had it that a good-natured shop owner gives monetary gifts to his customer in exchange for many happy words the customer uses as “rise”, ”go up”, and “increase.”

The gift starts with a small amount ending up with the shop owner’s purse.
