Chestnuts cultivated and harvested on the well-known farm in NISHIOGI in 2021.
The big chestnuts are called “Kunimi” and the smaller ones, “Omine”, grown with chemical-free natural farming; both are early-ripening varieties. 
It is said that the “Kunimi” have moderate sweetness, so they are good for “kanroni”, or a boiled food with sugar, while “Omine” are sweet enough and have soft and fluffy texture, so they are good for making steamed chestnuts or processed food such as pastes.   

西荻の実り2021
西荻の名園で今秋収穫された和栗。
これは、無農薬による自然農法でできた栗で、国見(くにみ)および大峰(おおみね)という早生種。
大粒なのが国見で甘さがほどほどなので甘露煮、中粒なのが大峰で甘みが強く、ホクホクするので蒸し栗やペーストなどの加工品に向くという。
