BLAZING FLOWERS

The burningly bright flowers originated in tropical America and are perennials. They were brought to Japan in the early 17th century.   

The plant height is 50-150cm. The flowers have a variety of colors such as scarlet, pink. yellow and white. Interestingly, the parts that look like petals are actually transformed stamens.

In the language of flowers, cannas signify, for example, passion and cheerfulness.

燃え上るような花

西荻の生産緑地で栽培されている、燃えるように鮮やかな緋色のカンナ（アメリカン・レッド・クロス、和名：カンナ）。

熱帯アメリカ原産の多年草。江戸時代初期に日本に渡来。

草丈は50～150㎝。花色は赤、ピンク、黄、橙黄、白など豊富。花弁に見えるのは、おしべが変形したものという。

花言葉は、「情熱」「快活」など。
