July 7th is the day of Tanabata or the Star Festival.

Many strips of colored paper hung on the bamboo branches are decorated in the rainy season by the pond in Zenpukuji Park in NISHIOGI.

The origin of the Star Festival is a Chinese legend. Two stars, a male star called Hikoboshi (Altair) and female star called Orihime (Vega) fell in love, and she neglected her weaving. The god got angry and put the Milky Way between them to separate them. As a result, they were allowed to meet once a year only on this day.

People write their wishes on the strips such that, “I wish Corona pandemic will be over soon ” and “I hope I can make many friends.”
