What's
NISHIOGI

One of the Japanese traditional crafts Washi, or Japanese paper, is used to make various things.

Washi is sticked on appropriately sized cardboard or paulownia board over and over again, and then, the board is dyed. Finally, it is coated with urethane resin to finish making a washable plate. Brass powder or tin powder for lacquer art is used to decorate such a plate. It is beautiful, light and does not break even if dropped. You can appreciate the crafts at a Japanese culture store near the north exit of NISHIOGIKUBO Station.

Why don’t you put, for example, Japanese sweets such as “daifuku”, or a rice cake stuffed with sweet bean paste, on a square plate and some pieces of hand-shaped sushi on a rectangular one to taste the Japanese spirit of “wa”, or peace?
