COLORFUL LEAVES

The beauty of plants is not limited to flowers. The color leaf is also very beautiful: these are various kinds of coleus (nishikijiso or literally colorful perilla in Japanese) planted in the flower beds in front of the south exit of NISHIOGIKUBO station and in residential areas.
The plant height is 30-50cm. Coleus originated in Java, Indonesia and is regarded as an annual plant in Japan.
The leaves are diverse and varied in shape, size, color and pattern.
Incidentally, the flower language of coleus is, for example, health.

多彩な葉っぱ

植物の美は花に限らない。葉っぱもまた美しい。これらは西荻窪駅南口ほか民家の花壇で栽培されている観葉植物の「コリウス」（和名：ニシキジソ＜錦紫蘇＞）。
草丈は30～50㎝、原産地はジャワ島。日本では1年草扱い。
カラーリーフは葉の形や大きさ、色、模様などが多彩で変化に富む。
因みにコリウスの花言葉は、例えば「健康」。
