What interesting names lilies have!

Three kinds of lilies found in shrubberies and a productive green in NISHIOGI: “Oniyuri” or Tiger lilies with spotted petals and edible bulbs,” Teppouyuri” or Easter lilies with gun-shaped white petals used as Easter decorations in Europe and America, and “Sukashiyuri” or Thunberg lilies having petals with gaps.

These diverse names remind you of the following humorous haiku composed by a famous poet, Masaoka Shiki.

Iroirono namo omosiroya yurinohana, which can tentatively be translated as How interesting various names of lilies are!
