The foundation for NISHIOGIKUBO’s development was laid by Uchida Hidegoro (1876-1975).
A special exhibition commemorating the 90th anniversary of Suginam ward called “The achievements of Uchida Hidegoro” (Sep.17-Oct.30,2022); it is on now at the Annex to the Suginami Historical Museum.
Many historical pictures related to his accomplishments are shown: for example, the area around the north exit of NISHIOGIKUBO Station shortly after opening (July 5,1922), the area map of the land rezoning policy (1925-1935) targeting at a vast field and the pond of Zenpukuji Park acquired as a result of tenacity in the early1930s.
西荻窪発展の基礎
西荻窪発展の基礎は内田秀五郎（1876-1975）によって築かれました。
杉並区区制施行90周年記念として開催されている企画展（杉並区立郷土博物館・分館「内田秀五郎のしごと」＜2022.9.17-10.30＞）。
ここでは、誘致・開設（1922.7.5）早々の西荻窪駅北口の様子、全国屈指の大規模の土地区画整理事業（1925-1935）の区域図、執念の結果として確保した昭和初期の善福寺池など、同氏の数々の業績が紹介されています。
