NISHIOGI

Here are several pieces of gentle metalwork with playful minds.

A retrospective exhibition called Sato Sekio’s metalwork exhibition (2022.5.27-29; 6.3-6.5) held in a studio in NISHIOGI.

Selected crafts made by a metal craftsperson, the late Mr. Sato Sekio were displayed.

An exhibition arranger commented,” The main part is copper. The blackish part of this flower vase, for example, is joined with a kind of Irogane (literally colored metal) called Shakudou, which is a copper alloy mixed with a small amount of gold. This traditional decorative technique is also used to beautify Tsuba or the handguards of Japanese swords. And its golden part is plated with gold.”
