Congratulations on the reopening of the long-awaited handmade market in NISHIOGIKUBO!
The market restarted in Iogi hall on October 23,2022 after three-year discontinuance due to Covid-19 pandemic; this market had been held on the fourth Sunday every month.
Many warm and humorous items made by 26 NISHIOGI stores were displayed; for example, finger puppets called “Tabito” wish travelers taking nice pictures wearing these while taking a trip, and stuffed toy frogs seem to imply that people who once visit NISHIOGI and buy a favorite one, they will safely return to the town again; the English word “return” can be interpreted as “a frog” in Japanese.
The organizer said,” I really felt relieved to have been able to reopen this event. Though considering the situation of corona, I would like to arrange an expanded market using the space of the second floor from January 2023 onward.”
西荻手しごと市の再開
皆さまお待ちかねの「西荻手しごと市」が再開されました。
毎月第4日曜日開催されていたこの手づくり品の市は、コロナ禍のためしばらく中止を余儀なくされていたが、2022年10月23日（日）、井荻會舘で3年ぶりに再開の運びとなりました。
西荻の26店による手づくりの温もりのあるユーモラスな作品が多く展示されていました。例えば、この「タビト」という指人形は、旅の際、指にさして素敵な写真をお撮りいただくようにと願っています。また、カエルの縫いぐるみは、“一度訪れた西荻に無事帰る＝カエル“と示唆しているようです。
主催者の言「本日開催できてホッとしています。コロナ情勢をみながらですが、来年1月からは2階も使い拡大して開催したいと考えています。」
