AROMATIC FLOWERS

There is a strong sweet scent all around.

“Jinchouge” or daphne planted in Zenpukuji Park in NISHIOGI.

The flowering tree is an evergreen shrub originated in China. The height is 1-2m. It is said to have been introduced to Japan in the Muromachi Period (1336-1573).

Many crimson and white flowers give off an aromatic scent, which should be regarded as one of the spring features. 

Incidentally, the flower language of daphne is, for example, immortality or glory. 

香り高い花

あたりには強く甘い香りが漂っています。

西荻の善福寺公園に植栽されている「ジンチョウゲ（沈丁花）」。

中国原産の常緑低木。樹高は1～2mで、室町時代に日本に渡来したといわれます。

濃紅色と白色の花の放つ強く甘い香りは春の風物詩といってよいでしょう。

因みに、「ジンチョウゲ」の花言葉は、例えば、不滅、栄光など。
