These flowers continue to bloom beautifully even after the autumn equinoctial week has passed.

Higanbana, also known as Manjushage (cluster amaryllis) and Shirobana-higanbana (their related species) planted in clusters in Zenpukuji Park in NISHIOGI.

Masaoka Shiki, a famous Japanese haiku poet, who was unusually interested in the characteristic that the flowers have no leaves while they are in bloom, wrote the following poem. A tentative translation could be, Manjushage with no branches and leaves bloom in the autumn breeze.
