It would be a good idea to slowly sip sake while savoring with a small cup.
A sake drinking set displayed in an antique store in NISHIOGI. They were made in Arita, Saga Prefecture in 1930’s.
The storekeeper commented, “In those days the economy was booming. To avoid drinking a great amount of sake with a large cup, thin and small cups became popular. Skillful craftspeople seem to have competed in the pursuit of the techniques concerned.”

店主のコメント「当時は好景気でしたが、大きな杯による大量飲酒を避けるためなどから、薄くて小さい杯が流行りました。腕自慢の職人が競って小型化・肉薄化の技術を追求したようです。」
