NEW YEAR’S FIRST VISIT TO SHRINE 2023

People have prayed for great happiness of the New Year queuing in orderly rows.

In Japan, many people pay the New Year’s first visit to a shrine during the first three days of January to pray for health and happiness in the new year.

People then buy “omamori” or good-luck charms and “hamaya” or an exorcizing arrow to invite good fortune and ward off evil.
