The number of large pots for sweet potatoes has increased to three this year.
An open-air market was held in Motohashi Chestnut Farm facing Itsukaichi-kaido in NISHIOGI on December 3, 2023.
A variety of items such as seasonal vegetables, baked confectionery, beverages were ready for sale in tents. People in NISHIOGI enjoyed shopping while admiring colorful autumn leaves.
The sweet potatoes are called “Beni haruka” from Akita Prefecture, and the vegetables are “Aonaga vitamin radish”, “Hakata bonito greens” and “Koshin radish” from Tochigi Prefecture.
For example, the inside of the round “Koshin radish” is reddish purple. When grated, it has a sweet yet spicy taste.
紅葉下の青空市
今年は壺焼きの壺が３つに増えました。
2023年12月3日、西荻の五日市街道に面した本橋栗園で開催された青空市。旬の野菜、焼き菓子、飲み物など多様な品物がテント内に並べられ、西荻の人たちは美しい紅葉を愛でつつ、お買い物を楽しみました。
サツマイモは秋田県産の「紅はるか」、野菜は栃木県産の「青長ビタミン大根」「博多かつお菜」「紅芯大根」です。
例えば、この丸っこい「紅芯大根」の中身は赤紫色で、おろしにすれば、甘いなかにもピリッとした辛みがあります。
