SETSUBUN IN NISHIOGI 2023

People celebrated Setsubun as an annual event on February 3, 2023.

On the evening of the day, lots of people have scattered roasted soy beans inside and outside their houses, shouting “Devils out, fortune in”. Then they have eaten the same number of beans as their age, wishing for good luck.

On the same evening, they have eaten a big sushi roll called “ehou-maki “or a lucky sushi roll in the bite-sized pieces without cutting, facing the lucky direction of the year which is slightly south of south-southeast for 2023.

西荻の節分 2023

人々は日本の年中行事として2月3日、節分をお祝いしました。

この日の夕刻、多くの人々は家の内と外に向かって「鬼は外、福は内」と叫びながら煎った大豆をまき、そのあと自分の歳と同じ数の煎り豆を、幸運を願って食べました。

また、この日には、その年の恵方（えほう）―本年は南南東微南―を向いて食べると縁起が良いとされる「恵方巻き」と称する太巻き寿司を切り分けずに1本丸ごと食べました。
