Old cloth dyed with indigo and plants has been transformed into bags, and over a long period of time, they have acquired a gentle texture and tasteful colors.

An exhibition titled “Kofu Komono SakuhinTen Kamisawa Yuu” held in a gallery near the south exit of JR NISHIOGIKUBO Station (September 2-3, 2023).

Take this tote bag with a family crest called “Fusencho” or literally floating line butterfly, for example. According to the creator, this is cotton cloth dyed with indigo and has a pattern of a butterfly lying down with its wings spread out. It is said that the pattern was often used by the Taira clan in the end of the Heian period.
