The annual international art event (Nov.3-Nov.23) is on now around the NISHIOGI area including Zenpukuji Park. This year’s theme is “Truth is deception, deception is truth REAL=FAKE.”
According to the explanation board, the stubby-shaped sculpture titled “Sabotten”, for example, is the result of being inactive due to Covid-19. This title is a play on Japanese words “saboru” meaning skip and “saboten” meaning cactus. Concerning the installation called “Shelter”, it is said that nearly 60 years ago there were some air-raid shelters near the Zenpukuji Pond. Furthermore, concerning “A HOME ON A PLANET”, the board explains that here are many windows that are always open, so you can come and go as you like, and feel at home.

あなたにとってRealとは何か、と問われています。
善福寺公園を中心に西荻窪駅周辺で開催されている毎年恒例の「トロールの森2023」（11.3～11.23）。
今年のテーマは「まことはまやかし、まやかしはまことREAL=FAKE」です。
例えばこの「さぼってん」と題するずんぐりした形の彫刻は、説明板によれば、コロナ禍で動かなかったツケが形になったものとのことです。このタイトルは、日本語の言葉の遊戯で「さぼる」ないし「さぼてん」をもじった表現です。また、「シェルター」というインスタレーションについては、60年近く前には、善福寺池の近辺に防空壕がいくつかあったとのこと。さらに「A HOME ON A PLANET」については、ここにはいつも開かれているたくさんの窓があり、自由に行き来できます。どうぞ寛いでいってください、とあります。
