AUSPICIOUS SAKE VESSEL

It’s becoming the season when people start craving hot sake.

A one-mouthed “Choshi” or sake container displayed in an antique store (“Jikoh”) in the northwestern part of NISHIOGI. It is a hexagonal sake vessel that is considered to bring good luck.

When boiling sake or shochu, the lid also becomes hot and can cause burns, so when pouring into the cup, a replacement lid is used and a hand is placed on it.

縁起の良い酒器

熱燗が恋しい季節になってきました。

西荻北西地区の骨董店(「慈光」)に展示されている、片口の「銚子」。縁起が良いとされる六角形の酒器です。

お酒でも焼酎でも沸かした場合、蓋も熱くなりやけどをしかねないので、盃に注ぐときは替え蓋に代え、手を添えます。
