Delicious chestnut rice has just been cooked.

Mid-season Japanese chestnut variety called “Tsukuba” cultivated and harvested using natural farming methods without the use of pesticides on the well-known farm (Motohashi Chestnut Farm) in NISHIOGI in 2024.

These chestnuts are cultivated widely throughout Japan, mainly in Ibaraki and Kumamoto Prefectures, and are said to be the most produced in Japan.

It is said that “Tsukuba” chestnuts are relatively large, have a strong fragrance, are sweet and crumbly, making them ideal for dishes such as chestnut stew with the skin on, chestnut rice and sweets.  

 

西荻の実り2024

おいしい栗ご飯が炊き上がりました。

西荻の名園(「本橋栗園」)で無農薬による自然農法で栽培され、収穫された和栗の中生(なかて)種「筑波」。

この栗は茨城県、熊本県を中心に広く全国で栽培され、日本で最も生産量が多いとのこと。

「筑波」は、比較的大粒で、香りも強く甘くてホロホロしているのが特徴で、渋皮煮、栗ご飯、スイーツ等に好適といわれます。
