These are indispensable tools for hair styling.
Old Imari “Aburatsubo” or literally oil pots displayed in an antique store (“Jiko”) in the northwestern part of NISHIOGI. They were made in the mid-Edo period (1700s).
The store manager commented, “These jars are containers for storing oils such as camellia oil or walnut oil that women use to make their hair moisturized and make it shiny and beautiful when they style their hair.”
Among the exhibits is a vase with a gold-jointed rim, which gives a sense of original owner’s strong desire to preserve the vase and its artistic value.
心ときめく油壷
調髪に欠かせない器です。
西荻北西地区の骨董店(「慈光」)に展示されている、古伊万里の「油壺」。江戸中期の作品です。
店長の言「これらの壺は、女性が調髪の際、潤いを保つとか艶のある美しい髪にするためにつける油、
例えば椿油とか胡桃油（クルミ油）などを入れる器です。」
展示品のなかには、口縁を金継ぎした壺もあり、もとの持ち主の保存意思の強さや美術価値への配慮が感じられます。
