Despite the cold rain, NISHIOGI citizens prayed for the New Year’s good health while enjoying traditional Japanese performing arts.
A New Year’s event “New Year’s First Market” (January 21,2024) was held on Shinmei Street in NISHIOGI with the participation of 18 stores.
At this event, at the community space Nishiogi Minami, the Oomiyamae Folk Performing Arts Preservation Society performed Shishimai, a lion dance to pray for warding off evil spirits and Daikokumai to pray for a rich harvest, accompanied by a flute and drums.
Many families also participated in the “Atama-kami” or head-biting act after the performances, which is said to be a form of inviting good luck.
新春初市2024
冷雨にもかかわらず、西荻の人々は、日本の伝統芸能を鑑賞しつつ本年の無病息災を祈りました。
西荻の神明通りで開催された、18店参加による正月のイベント「新春初市」（2024.1.21）。
このイベントでは、コミュニティスペース「西荻みなみ」において、「大宮前郷土芸能保存会」による、厄払いを願う「獅子舞」および五穀豊穣を願う「大黒舞」が笛や太鼓にあわせて披露されました。また、多くの家族連れが、招福の行為といわれる、演舞後の「頭噛み」にも参加していました。
