YELLOW IN THE EARLY SPRING

The dense appearance of the small flowers that cover the branches is a sight to behold.

“Ginyou Akashia” or Cootamundra wattle planted in front of a private house in the northwestern part of NISHIOGI.

The tree is an evergreen originated in southeastern Australia, and is said to have been introduced to Japan at the end of the Meiji period (late 1890s).

The name, Ginyou, is said to have come from the whitish-green color of the leaves.

Incidentally, the flower language of this flower is, for example, “secret love” and “friendship.”   

早春の黄

枝を覆いつくす小花の密な姿は圧巻です。

西荻の北西地区の民家の前に植栽されている「ギンヨウアカシア（銀葉アカシア）」。

オーストラリア南東部原産の常緑樹で、日本には明治時代末期に渡来したといわれます。

「ギンヨウ」という名は、葉が白っぽい緑色をしていることからつけられたそうです。

因みに、この花の花言葉は、例えば「秘密の恋」「友情」など。
