FLOWERS REPRESENTING MIDSUMMER

These are a variety of flowers that symbolize midsummer.
“Himawari” or Sunflowers planted in the gardens of a private home and a welfare facility in NISHIOGI, as well as in a flowerbed in a park. They are annual herbs originated in North America. It is said that the plant was introduced to Japan via China in the early Edo period.
Thanks to ongoing breeding, there is a wide variety of plant heights, flower colors, and flower head shapes.
Incidentally, the flower language of these flowers is, for example, “longing.”

盛夏を代表する花
盛夏を象徴するバラエティに富んだ花です。
西荻の民家や福祉施設の庭、公園の花壇などに植栽されている「ひまわり（向日葵）」。北アメリカ原産の一年草。日本には、江戸時代初期に中国経由で渡来したと言われます。
品種改良がすすみ、草丈、花色、頭花の形など実にバラエティ豊かです。
因みに、この花の花言葉は、例えば「憧れ」。
