On the 6th, the first day of the horse in February this year, people prayed for a bountiful harvest.
On this day, the Hatsuuma Festival was held at Shouaninari Shrine in NISHIOGI, one of our guide group’s guide spots.
As worshippers listened to the chief priest’s recitation of Norito or a ritual Shinto prayer, they prayed for bountiful harvests, safety of their families, and business prosperity.
On this day, there is a custom of eating “Inari-zushi”: people stuff sushi rice into deep-fried bean curd, a favorite food of the fox who is said to be a messenger of the Inari god.
松庵稲荷神社の初午大祭
本年2月最初の午の日の6日、五穀豊穣をお祈りしました。
この日、われわれガイドグループのガイド拠点の一つ、西荻の松庵稲荷神社で「初午大祭」が行われました。
参拝者は、宮司さんの祝詞を聞きながら、五穀豊穣のほか家内安全や商売繁盛などもお祈りしました。
この日には、稲荷神のお使いといわれるキツネの好物の「油揚げ」に、すし飯を詰め込んだ「いなり寿司」を食べる風習があります。
