Shrines have their own shinmon or shrine crest which can be seen at various places such as hanging lanterns and offertory boxes. These patterns are called hidari-mitsudomoe, or literally left three comma-shaped figures in a circle. They look as if magatama or comma-shaped jewels in ancient times are turning clockwise.
The word mitsudomoe originally meant that three things swirl and developed to mean that three parties rival each other.
These figures were liked by feudal warlords and therefore, mainly Hachiman-jinja led to selecting them. Surprisingly, all four big shrines in NISHIOGI have these crests.
神紋
神社では吊り灯籠、賽銭箱等いろいろな場所に特有の紋章（神紋）が見られる。これらは、「左三つ巴」と呼ばれる神紋。古代の装身具である勾玉が左回り（時計回り）に動いているさまを図案化したものとの説あり。
「三つ巴」とは、三つのものが渦巻いていること、が基本的な意味であるが、転じて、三者が張り合って争うこと、の意味も生まれた。
この紋は、武士階級が好んだことから八幡神社系に多いといわれるが、西荻の主要な４神社の神紋も、なぜか武神を祀ってはいない松庵稲荷神社を含めてすべてこの「左三つ巴」紋だ。
